Universal OS X, NetBoot OS X, courtesy of MacOSXHints

Of all the peoplewho could create a Universal OS X
far as I know) got there first? Top it off with the fact that they also created a NetBoot image and, well… now
they’re just making everyone else look bad (*cough!*).
href="http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20060322054212363">This article at MacOSXHints describes the
first half of the process - creating a Universal, bootable image of OS X - and it sounds pretty darn easy. The second
step - enabling the Universal image with NetBoot superpowers - is
href="http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20060323085045578">right here. I haven’t used either of these
(since I don’t have a shiny Intel Mac anyway), but they both sound like pretty simple little tricks. Enjoy.

Make iCal automatically email people at a specific time
March 31, 2006 on 1:00 pm | In attachments, automate, automatic, email, events, iCalMail, ical, mail | Comments OffFiled under: Software, Cool tools, Productivity
I’ve been on aproductivity kick ever since I found that href="http://www.tuaw.com/2006/03/28/kinkless-getting-things-done-0-83-released/">kGTD plugin for OmniOutliner, and
I thought this script/app would be a nice addition to the collection of anyone who works in a collaborative environment,
especially for those who live and die by email or just can’t seem to remember to do X at X o’clock.
href="http://scriptbuilders.net/files/icalmail1.3.html">iCalMail 1.3 sets up a new calendar into which you can add
events that will automatically email anyone you want at the event’s time. iCalMail is clever too, allowing you to use
different fields of the iCal event to compose each email, and the breakdown works like this:
- event
name -> subject - location -> attachment
- attendees -> recipients
- notes field -> message text
I haven’t tested this yet, but it seems like a great idea,
especially since there is a method for including attachments. Check out the script at ScriptBuilders, as well as more
information at Chris J. Shull’s site.

Script to bookmark all of Safari's tabs
March 31, 2006 on 12:00 pm | In applescript, bookmark, group, safari, script, tabs | Comments OffFiled under: Software, Productivity, Internet Tools
I know thereare various plugins, addons, widgets and thingamabobs that will allow Safari to bookmark a group of tabs you have open.
If you haven’t installed any of these extras or you’re just an applescript fan at heart, I found a one-trick script over
at ScriptBuilders that should pull this trick off
just fine. However, I haven’t tested this yet, and the script’s page doesn’t state whether its compatible with Tiger
and/or Panther, so if you try it out, please post your thoughts.

New iPod accessory maker to debut wireless products

Tomorrowmarks the 30th anniversary of Apple
haven’t seen a whole lot of rumors or speculation as to what awe-inspiring products Apple might launch (if any) in
celebration, I thought it might be a good time to reflect on TAM, Apple’s Twentieth Anniversar Mac
12,000 were made. As a nice tech-related reality check: these 250 MHz powerhouses were introduced in 1997 for a
whopping $7,499.
I’m not trying to waste my time on a prediction or stir up commotion. I simply thought it
would be neat to reflect on how Apple celebrated their last decade’s anniversary. Check out more details, specs and
reminiscience of the TAM over at LowEndMac.

iPod the Kleenex of MP3 players

Xerox.Kleenex. iPod
What do they all have in common? They are all brand names that have come to define their
category, at least that’s what this article argues.
/>
Xerox and Kleenex certainly have transcended being a brand, but are people now calling all MP3 players iPods?
It seems like the answer is yes, and is that a bad thing? Certainly not for Apple, though other MP3 player
manufacturers might not be so keen on it.

If youlike Mars, Nasa has the application for you. Mars24 tracks the
time of day for numerous locations on Mars (those are Martian days, by the way).
It is free, and
interesting. Isn’t that what we all want in our software?
